Always follow the care instructions on the sewn-in label of your Hatgoods cap first. When your cap needs a refresh, we recommend spot cleaning only, using these steps:

How to spot clean

1. Hand wash the affected area with cold water and diluted detergent — mix 2 parts water to 1 part mild detergent.

2. Rinse out thoroughly, then pat dry with a clean towel, pressing gently to pull out as much water as possible.

3. Air dry away from direct sunlight. To keep the crown's shape, rest the cap over a bowl or rolled towel while it dries.

Fabric notes

Suede & leather caps: skip water entirely — use a soft dry brush and wipe gently with a barely-damp cloth if needed. Trucker mesh: dust and lint lift easily with a lint roller or soft brush before any washing. Denim, twill, corduroy & canvas: spot clean as above; never scrub embroidery or patches directly.

Never do this

Do not machine wash, dry clean, tumble dry, or put your cap in a dishwasher. Heat and agitation destroy the brim structure and crown shape. Hatgoods will not be held responsible for products damaged by machine washing, dry cleaning, dishwashers, or any cleaning method other than the spot cleaning described here — this kind of damage isn't covered by our 1-Year Guarantee.
